A revolutionary new way to deal with bad news
|
During our recent vacation in Chamonix/France we faced a very interesting challenge: For the last night we had a very special hotel reservation at the famous Montenverse Hotel
, right on top of the Mare du Glace, the largest glacier system in the Alps. It can be reached only via a very historic cogwheel train.
The bad news: a few minutes before we arrived, one of their trains derailed and the mountain was closed for the rest of the day and the following day.
This was too bad to be true!
After feeling upset and disappointed for 15 minutes I started a conversation with the station manager Claire and learned that there were still 2000 tourists on the mountain that had to come down before the end of the day.
Wait - if all these people have to come down, there must be empty trains going up to the accident location and full trains coming down from the top to the derailed train! So I asked Claire: "Can you get us on the next empty train going up?" She could and we enjoyed a very unique overnight stay in this pristine hotel with excellent dinner and breakfast.
I feel very encouraged to apply this magic thought and feeling whenever negative news hit on the media or in my personal life: "This it too bad to be true." It has been helping immediately to stay present in any situation.
Feel free to apply it and let me know how it works for you
